This year’s event will take place on Sunday, November 17. The name "Torbageddon" combines "torba" (peat) and "Armageddon," symbolizing the ultimate celebration of peated whisky. This year promises to be even more exciting with several new features. One significant change is the venue. The event will be held at Unahotels Decò, located at Via Giovanni Amendola 57. This new location is conveniently close to Termini Station and the metro. As a result, attendees traveling by public transport or arriving from outside the city will find it much easier to attend. Moreover, Velier will be the main sponsor for the 2024 edition. They will showcase a selection of their finest bottles. Additionally, Velier will host two masterclasses focusing on the renowned Japanese whisky brand Nikka and the Orkney distillery Highland Park. These sessions will provide valuable insights into the world of whisky. Masterclasses: A Deep Dive into Whisky This year’s Torbageddon will feature five masterclasses, each offering a unique experience. The first masterclass will highlight Springbank, showcasing five batches of their 12-year-old whisky at cask strength. This is a rare opportunity for enthusiasts to taste different expressions side by side. Another masterclass will focus on five peated whiskies from the Rinaldi distribution. This session will explore the diverse flavors and characteristics of these whiskies. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how peat influences the whisky-making process. Lastly, a vertical tasting of Laphroaig will be conducted by Stock Italia. This session will include two exceptional aged whiskies, one 30 years old and another 33 years old. Such tastings are rare and provide a unique perspective on the evolution of whisky over time. A Whisky Tasting Extravaganza The main tasting area will feature over 200 peated whiskies from around the globe. This year, there will be an increase in the number of labels available for tasting. The tasting will open at 2 PM and continue until 10 PM. Attendees can purchase tokens for 2 cl servings, allowing them to sample a variety of whiskies.
