The Countdown to Benvenuto Brunello: A Celebration of Tuscan Wine

The anticipation for the 33rd edition of Benvenuto Brunello is palpable. This prestigious event will take place from November 14 to 18 in Montalcino. It is dedicated to the renowned Brunello di Montalcino wine, a true gem of Tuscany.

During this event, wine enthusiasts, journalists, and buyers from around the globe will gather. They will have the opportunity to taste the 2020 Brunello, the 2019 Riserva, and the 2023 Rosso di Montalcino. Additionally, attendees can explore other local wines, including Moscadello and Sant’Antimo.

With 126 wineries and over 500 labels available for tasting, the event promises to be a wine lover’s paradise. Over 100 journalists and critics will kick off the tastings at the Chiostro di Sant’Agostino. This gathering will set the stage for an unforgettable experience in the heart of Tuscany.

A Day of Insights and Celebrations

On Saturday, November 16, the event will feature a special focus on the future of wine consortia. This discussion will be led by Luciano Ferraro, the deputy director of Corriere della Sera. Esteemed presidents from various wine regions will participate, sharing their insights and experiences.

Following this discussion, the evaluation of the 2020 vintage will take place. This vintage is set to hit the market in January 2025. The event will also include the prestigious Leccio d’Oro award ceremony and the unveiling of a traditional tile designed by acclaimed filmmaker Ferzan Ozpetek.

Simultaneously, the Chiostro will open its doors to the public. Attendees will have the chance to engage directly with producers. This interactive experience will continue with walk-around tastings on Sunday and Monday.

Masterclasses and Exclusive Tastings

Benvenuto Brunello will also feature a series of masterclasses. The first session will be held on Saturday, November 16, led by Daniele Cernilli. He is the director and curator of the Essential Guide to Italian Wines by DoctorWine.

On Sunday, November 17, Master of Wine Andrea Lonardi will guide another session. Both masterclasses require prior reservation and are subject to a fee. These sessions will provide in-depth knowledge and appreciation of Tuscan wines.

Finally, on Monday, November 18, an exclusive tasting will be reserved for high-end restaurants and luxury hotels. This tasting will be curated by wine expert Francesco Saverio Russo. It promises to be a fitting conclusion to an extraordinary celebration of Tuscan wine.
